Chief Minister Honors Fangawa IV

Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has graced the official presentation ceremony of Paramount Chief Larry Sao Bojohn Fangawa IV, an event that brought together traditional authorities, stakeholders, and members of the general public from across the country.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister emphasized three key development priorities of the government. First, he highlighted that development is a partnership between the government and the people, noting that only a few months ago residents relied on ferries and motorbikes for transportation. Today, he said, a newly constructed bridge officially opened by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio stands as evidence of the government’s commitment to improving connectivity and service delivery.

Secondly, Dr. Sengeh underscored the importance of agriculture as a driver of food security, employment, and economic growth, while his third focus was on road infrastructure, which he described as critical to unlocking development in rural communities. He assured the gathering that when President Bio makes a promise, it is fulfilled, adding that the government’s actions continue to reflect this resolve.

Chief Minister further noted that the government has increased the salaries of Paramount Chiefs and has begun providing official vehicles to traditional leaders, assuring that those yet to receive theirs will do so in due course. He thanked the chiefdom authorities, stakeholders, and visiting Paramount Chiefs for honoring the occasion.

In his acceptance statement, Paramount Chief Larry Sao Bojohn Fangawa IV expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support and officially acknowledged his presentation to the chiefdom. He appealed to the government for assistance with road development, explaining that the chiefdom has made local efforts to improve access. He also highlighted progress in communication infrastructure, noting that the chiefdom now has communication poles where none existed before.

On behalf of the youth, Abu Mattia called on the government to support young people to meaningfully engage in agriculture, describing it as a pathway to employment and sustainable livelihoods.

The event reinforced the government’s commitment to the Big Five Game Changers particularly infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance as essential pillars for national transformation and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.
