The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor A. Bah, has at the weekly government press conference at the Miatta Civic Center on Tuesday, 20th January 2026, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability through regular public engagement, noting that the press conference serves as a vital platform to keep citizens informed about progress made and challenges encountered. He assured that the sessions will continue throughout the year as part of the Ministry’s Open Government Communication Strategy aimed at strengthening civic trust and participation.

Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, in his presentation, provided an in-depth overview of the government’s Performance Tracking Table (PTT), a tool designed to monitor and evaluate the implementation of key government priorities, particularly those under President Julius Maada Bio’s Big Five Agenda.

Dr. Sengeh elaborated on significant milestones achieved in 2025 across sectors such as education, healthcare, food security, youth employment, and public service delivery. He noted that while progress has been remarkable, 2026 would be a “Year of Action”, emphasizing efficiency, coordination, and measurable impact in the delivery of government commitments.

“Accountability and results are at the heart of our governance model. The PTT allows us to identify what is working, where we are lagging behind, and how to ensure that every ministry and agency is aligned with our national development goals,” the Chief Minister stated.

The interactive session also featured questions from journalists seeking clarity on policy directions, ongoing reforms, and the government’s strategies for sustaining economic stability and citizen engagement.

Minister Chernoh Bah reiterated that his ministry will continue to champion proactive communication and civic education as central pillars of democratic governance. He underscored that citizens’ participation and access to accurate information remain key to building an inclusive and responsive government.

The press conference marks the first in a series of engagements planned for 2026, as the Ministry of Information and Civic Education strengthens its collaboration with the media to ensure that every Sierra Leonean is part of the national dialogue on progress and accountability.
