IGP Touray Engages RCBank Officials and West African Bankers Association

The Inspector General of Police Seedy Mukhtar Touray has on Thursday, February 27, 2025, welcomed a distinguished delegation from the West African Bankers Association (WABA), including representatives from RCBank (SL) Limited, at the Police Headquarters in Banjul, The Gambia.
The meeting was convened to discuss WABA’s mission and explore opportunities for collaboration with the Gambia Police Force (GPF).
The delegation, led by WABA Secretary General Alagie Jeng and accompanied by Chief Inspector Alieu Jamanka, a notable former Deputy Police Spokesperson, engaged in meaningful discussions about WABA’s vital role.
Established in 1981, WABA is dedicated to strengthening the banking sector across West Africa. Mr. Jeng emphasized WABA’s focus on capacity building for its member countries and announced that this year’s training program would be held in The Gambia. He highlighted the importance of involving the GPF in these initiatives, recognizing the police’s critical role in safeguarding financial security.
AIG Ebrima Bah, Chief of Police Administration, expressed gratitude for the visit and stressed the importance of partnership and collaboration in the fight against financial crime. He noted that equipping police officers with financial knowledge is essential for effectively addressing these crimes.
IGP Touray expressed his appreciation for WABA’s visit and reaffirmed the GPF’s commitment to strengthening ties with financial institutions. He referenced a recent meeting between police leadership and banking executives to discuss security management strategies, considering the collaboration both timely and essential. IGP Touray pledged the GPF’s full support in creating a secure financial environment and warmly invited the delegation to enjoy their stay in The Gambia, the Smiling Coast of Africa.
WABA, headquartered in Freetown, Sierra Leone, serves as the umbrella organization for commercial banks across West Africa, including The Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria, and Togo. The association is poised to drive transformative changes in the region’s banking sector.
