In a vibrant celebration of intellect, eloquence, and religious devotion, the Wellington Muslims Association (WMA) School successfully hosted its highly anticipated inter-class competitions on Friday, 13th February 2026. The event brought together students from both junior and senior levels in spelling bee, quiz, debate, and Qur’anic recitation competitions, fostering healthy rivalry and promoting academic excellence across the school community.

Coordinated by Mr. Sheku Osman Swaray, the event was meticulously organized with the support of the Head Boy, Mohamed S. Sesay, and the Head Girl, Jeneba Mansaray. Their leadership, alongside their dedicated team, ensured the smooth execution of all activities. The competitions provided students with a platform to showcase not only their academic knowledge but also critical thinking, confidence, and communication skills.
The spelling bee competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of JSS1 to JSS3. After several challenging rounds, JSS1 emerged as the champions, impressing both judges and the audience with their exceptional command of language and vocabulary. The competition highlighted the importance of literacy and precision in language among junior students.

The quiz competitions for the junior secondary students featured intense rivalry among JSS1, JSS2, and JSS3. After a series of intellectually stimulating questions covering general knowledge, current affairs, and academic subjects, the JSS2 participants were declared winners, demonstrating impressive recall and analytical skills. In the senior secondary quiz between SSS1 and SSS2, the SSS1 team emerged victorious, displaying depth of knowledge and quick thinking under pressure.
The debate competition, which featured SSS1 and SSS2 students, was one of the highlights of the day. The SSS1 Science team was adjudged the winner for their persuasive arguments, structured presentation, and articulate delivery. The debate encouraged critical thinking and enhanced public speaking skills among the participants.
In the Qur’anic recitation competition, students demonstrated remarkable memorization, pronunciation, and understanding of the holy text. After careful evaluation, SSS1 students emerged as winners, reflecting both dedication and spiritual commitment.

The winners across all competitions received certificates of merit, pens, and cash prizes, generously sponsored by the school principal, Mr. Abdul Razak Kamara. These awards serve to encourage continued excellence and motivate students to strive for greater accomplishments in both academic and spiritual pursuits.
The success of the event was attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Head Boy, Head Girl, and their organizing team. Mr. Swaray, the event coordinator, praised their diligence and commitment to ensuring that every segment of the competition ran smoothly.
Both the Vice Principal of SSS, Mr. Abubakar Kamara, and the Vice Principal of JSS, Mr. Alusine Bangura, attended the event and expressed profound appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing its importance in nurturing talent and fostering a culture of learning within the school.
The competitions were adjudicated by a distinguished panel of senior teachers, including Mr. Kebbie, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kamara, Mr. Abdul Karim Kamara, and Mr. Umu Bah, whose expertise ensured fairness and accuracy in determining the winners.
Overall, the inter-class competitions at WMA School were not just contests of knowledge but celebrations of student talent, perseverance, and teamwork. By integrating academic rigor with spiritual and ethical growth, the school reaffirmed its commitment to producing well-rounded individuals equipped for both scholastic and personal success.

As students left the venue with smiles, certificates, and prizes, the day served as a reminder that education extends beyond the classroom, thriving in activities that challenge the mind, uplift the spirit, and strengthen community bonds.
