This challenge is particularly evident in Sahn Malen Chiefdom, where limited access to goods and services has significantly increased the cost of living.

One of the primary factors driving up the cost of living in Sahn Malen is the restricted availability of goods and services. The absence of large retailers forces residents to rely on small local shops, where prices are often inflated due to low transaction volumes and high transportation costs. This makes basic necessities such as food, clothing, and household items increasingly expensive, further straining the economic stability of the people.

In the midst of these hardships, Mr. Abu Amara Bakundu has emerged as a selfless leader committed to alleviating the struggles of his people. A patriotic Malenian, he has taken significant steps to reduce the cost of food commodities in Pujehun District, particularly in Sahn Malen Chiefdom.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Abu Amara took proactive measures to ensure that residents had access to food at an affordable price. Through a partnership with QP Company, he secured subsidized rice for the people of Malen, selling it at Le 270,000 per bag while the market price ranged between Le 380,000 – Le 400,000. This initiative significantly reduced the financial burden on families struggling with high food prices.

Beyond rice, he also supplied flour and vegetable oil at subsidized rates, ensuring that essential food items remained within reach for many households. His actions reflect a deep-rooted commitment to service and community development, demonstrating the qualities of a leader who prioritizes the well-being of his people over personal gain.

Mr. Abu Amara Bakundu’s contributions extend beyond food security.
