Addressing congregants at both places of worship, Mr. Daboh expressed gratitude for life, health, and the achievements of NASSIT over the past year. He emphasized that Thanksgiving had become an institutional tradition, serving as a moment to reflect on past successes and seek divine guidance for the year ahead.

Highlighting NASSIT’s key milestones in 2024, the Director General noted significant advancements in enforcing compliance, enhancing ICT infrastructure, ensuring seamless benefit payments, expanding coverage, conducting critical investment audits, and improving service delivery. Looking ahead, he underscored that 2025 would be a transformative year, with a strategic focus on extending social security coverage to the informal sector.

“Social security is a fundamental human right, and ensuring inclusivity remains a top priority for NASSIT,” he stated, stressing that informal sector workers are often the hardest hit during crises, as seen during the Ebola and COVID-19 pandemics. He aligned NASSIT’s expansion strategy with President Bio’s Big Five agenda, recognizing the informal sector as a backbone of Sierra Leone’s economic growth.

At the Kenema Central Mosque, Imam Sheik Alhaji Conteh praised NASSIT for its commitment to national development, stating that institutions that entrust their work to God are destined for success. He urged worshippers to keep NASSIT in their prayers and encouraged the Trust’s staff to uphold fairness and integrity in their duties.

Similarly, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Bishop Henry Aruna of the Kenema Diocese described the Thanksgiving Service as a moment of deep reflection and appreciation of God’s blessings. He highlighted the crucial role of NASSIT in ensuring financial security in old age and urged young people to secure their futures by enrolling in the scheme. Sharing his personal experience, he stated,

“I have never been on a payroll, but because I joined the scheme, today I enjoy a dignified pension.”

The annual Thanksgiving Services reaffirmed NASSIT’s commitment to both its faith-driven values and its mission of providing social security protection for all Sierra Leoneans, particularly those in the informal sector.
