Police Bust Kush Dealers In Susans Bay

A coordinated security operation by the Sierra Leone Police Eastern Division has resulted in the arrest of six suspected drug dealers during a raid in the Susan’s Bay community, Tripoli area, in Freetown.

The operation, which forms part of the police’s intensified crackdown on the circulation of the dangerous synthetic drug commonly known as Kush, was carried out following intelligence reports about the alleged sale and distribution of the substance within the densely populated coastal settlement.

According to police sources, officers moved into the community during the operation and arrested several individuals suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade. Among those apprehended was Wilson Techam Kao, who was reportedly found in possession of 95 wraps of suspected Kush.

Daniel Mohamed Kamara was also arrested after allegedly being discovered with 81 wraps of the substance, while Osman Sulaiman Bangura was reportedly found with loose quantities believed to be Kush.

In a further development, police officers apprehended Dauda Munu, who was allegedly carrying 180 wraps of the suspected narcotic. Two other suspects, Hassan Kamara and Abdulai Ebonda, were also taken into custody after officers reportedly recovered 40 wraps and 36 wraps of the suspected drug from them respectively.

Authorities confirmed that all the substances recovered during the raid have been carefully secured and documented as exhibits. The materials are expected to undergo forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation to determine their exact composition.

Police further disclosed that the six suspects have been transferred to the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), the specialized unit responsible for handling serious organized crime and drug-related offenses.

The latest arrests highlight growing concerns over the spread of Kush, a highly addictive synthetic drug that has become a major public health and security challenge in several communities across Sierra Leone.

Law enforcement authorities say the raid is part of broader efforts by the Sierra Leone Police to dismantle drug networks and protect communities from the harmful impact of illicit substances.

Police have also urged residents to continue cooperating with security forces by providing credible information that could help identify individuals involved in drug trafficking and other criminal activities. Officials emphasized that sustained community support remains vital in the fight against illegal drugs and the protection of vulnerable neighborhoods.
