Kenema, March 4, 2025 – The Regional Commander-East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Francis Tower, has issued a stern warning against indiscipline and corruption within the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), emphasizing the need for professionalism and accountability.
Addressing a well-attended parade on Monday, March 3, AIG Tower expressed concern over rising cases of absenteeism, lateness, and early departures among officers under his command. He cautioned that such conduct not only weakens the efficiency of the force but also erodes public confidence in law enforcement.
In a bid to restore discipline, AIG Tower directed the Complaints, Discipline, and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID) to take decisive action against officers neglecting their duties. He stressed that the SLP is a noble institution built on commitment and professionalism, urging unit heads to recognize hardworking personnel while ensuring defaulters are held accountable.
The Regional Commander also condemned the unethical practice of officers using his name to extort money from civilians, describing it as a grave betrayal of public trust. He assured that anyone caught engaging in such corrupt acts would face severe repercussions.
AIG Tower concluded by urging all officers to uphold the values of service, discipline, and accountability, reinforcing that the integrity of the police force hinges on their collective commitment to duty.
