Rokupr Residents Demand Prepaid Meters

By Abdulrahman Orlando
Residents of Rokupr are voicing their frustration over the prolonged delay in receiving prepaid electricity meters from Power Leone, despite making payments more than two years ago. The absence of meters has left many households and businesses struggling with unreliable power supply and financial strain.
Local businessman Alhajie Kamara expressed his disappointment, stating, “We paid for these meters in good faith, but up to now, we have received nothing. How long must we wait?”
Similarly, Madam Bomposseh Jalloh, another resident, highlighted the difficulties of accessing electricity without a meter. “Without a meter, we cannot properly track our consumption, and some people are forced to share connections, which is expensive and unfair,” she lamented.
Community Stakeholder Councillor Abu Baker Gbeteh Kamara called on the government and Power Leone to take immediate action. “We demand answers. If people have paid, they should receive their meters. We are tired of empty promises,” he asserted.
Residents are now urging the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that Power Leone fulfills its commitment without further delays.
