RSLAF Corporal Murder Case Adjourned

Joseph Lamin Stevens,a military officer of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), 18181456 Corporal, made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the pademba road court No. 1 on Tuesday, 13th January 2026, in connection with the alleged killing of his colleague, Military Officer Moses Brima Kabba.

The accused is facing one count of murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

According to the indictment, on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, at the Presidential Lodge, Freetown International Airport, Lungi, in the Port Loko Judicial District, Corporal Stevens allegedly shot and killed his colleague, Moses Brima Kabba.

When the charge was read and explained, no plea was taken due to the seriousness of the offence.

During the trial the prosecution confirmed that all necessary documents had been served on the defendant to enable him to prepare his defence.

ASP Ibrahim Mansaray, prosecuting, applied for an adjournment to allow the statement of the accused to be tendered.

Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah granted his application and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown, and the matter was adjourned to 20th January 2026 for further proceedings.
