Hope Times Newspaper on Saturday, 27th December 2025, successfully hosted its Dinner and Awards Night, bringing together journalists, media practitioners, educators, key stakeholders, and invited guests to celebrate excellence in journalism and media practice.
The highlight of the colourful evening was a keynote address delivered by the guest speaker, Sheku Putka Kamara, who spoke on the topic “The Role of Journalists in Upholding Professionalism in Media Practice.” In his address, Mr. Kamara underscored the critical responsibility of journalists to uphold ethical standards, accuracy, and integrity in their work. He emphasized that professionalism, truthfulness, and fairness are essential pillars for building and sustaining public trust in the media.
Mr. Kamara further noted that responsible journalism plays a vital role in promoting democracy, social development, and national unity. He urged media practitioners to resist misinformation and sensationalism, particularly in the digital age, and to remain committed to factual, balanced, and accountable reporting.
The programme attracted representatives from various media institutions, teachers, and stakeholders, all of whom commended Hope Times Newspaper for organizing an event that promotes professional growth, ethical journalism, and media excellence in Sierra Leone.
