The engagement, which took place on Tuesday, 17th December, 2025, mainly targeted councillors and ward committee members of the Makeni City Council.
Magnus Lahai, Health Coordinator at the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS), stated that engagement was part of their interventions before the country was declared free of Mpox on Monday, 15th December, 2025.
”We warmly welcomed the announcement, and Makeni’s meeting aims to strengthen daily healthy practices,” he added.
Sallieu Jalloh, Bombali District’s Surveillance Officer 1, praised the timely and consistent interventions of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society during the fight against the Mpox virus.
”The support and collaboration of our health partners helped us record this success,” he acknowledged.
Manty Turay, Councillor Makeni City Council, also commended the role played by the Red Cross and urged Sierra Leoneans to adopt daily healthy practices.
“Our responsibility is to prevent another public health emergency disease that could impact our well-being,” she appealed.
