UCSL Holds 10th General Meeting, Empowers Members with NLe 20,000 as It Advances Women-Led Development Agenda

The United Conference Sierra Leone (UCSL) today successfully convened its 10th Face-to-Face and One-on-One General Meeting, alongside its 4th Extraordinary Handing-Over Ceremony, marking yet another significant milestone in the organization’s unwavering commitment to Making Lives Better.

As part of its structured self-help, empowerment, and welfare initiative, UCSL disbursed the sum of NLe 20,000 to one of its members. The support is intended to assist the beneficiary with university education and other essential socio-economic expenses, reaffirming UCSL’s strong belief that education remains a powerful tool for personal growth and community transformation.

The engagement brought together executives and members in a spirit of unity, accountability, and shared responsibility. Deliberations during the meeting reinforced UCSL’s dedication to transparent leadership, collective progress, and people-centered development, in line with the organization’s constitution and core values.

Speaking during the meeting, the President and Founder of UCSL, AMB Osman Souun Sesay, emphasized that the Conference’s empowerment model is anchored on solidarity, discipline, and genuine concern for the welfare of members. He reaffirmed UCSL’s continued focus on education support, capacity building, and economic empowerment as key pillars of its operations.

Since its establishment, UCSL has consistently demonstrated practical commitment to uplifting its members through financial assistance, mentorship, and community-driven initiatives setting a commendable standard for responsible and impactful social organizations in Port Loko City and beyond.

Building on this momentum, the President and Founder, AMB Osman Souun Sesay, together with his dedicated executives and Senior Management Team, has announced that UCSL will officially commence its Village Saving Loan Association (VSLA) Box initiative in January 2026.

The VSLA Box will be launched with an initial seed fund of *NLe 8,000, generously supported by the Network for Salone, a Port Loko based organization. This support forms part of an ongoing partnership aimed at women’s empowerment, leadership development, and community capacity building. The breakthrough followed strategic engagement and lobbying led by the President and Founder, with the full backing of his team.

The Conference recently concluded its participation in the traditional and white wedding celebrations of its Financial Secretary, held in Lunsar on Saturday, 6th December 2025. The occasion was colorful and dignified, with members proudly appearing in their distinctive UCSL attire (Arshobi), symbolizing unity and organizational pride.

UCSL has also commenced preparations to honour the White Wedding of its President and Founder, AMB Osman Souun Sesay, scheduled for Saturday, 31st January 2026 in Port Loko City. The forthcoming event has generated widespread excitement and positive attention, both within and outside the Conference, as many express their readiness to attend and support.
