In a remarkable blend of academia and industry, the Chief Executive Officer of Vult Sierra Leone, Mr. David Kpakima, on Friday, 25th July 2025, delivered a thought-provoking guest lecture to second-year Banking and Finance students at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone.
Held at the 6th Floor of the Ekundayo Thompson Building, the session focused on the theme: “Customer Relationship Management: A Tool for Effective and Efficient Banking Operations in Sierra Leone – Case Studies of UBA Bank, Vult Sierra Leone, and Access Bank’s Rapid Growth.”
Organized under IPAM’s CRM course module, the event provided students with practical insights into how major financial institutions in Sierra Leone are leveraging customer relationship management (CRM) systems to drive innovation, improve service delivery, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Mr. Kpakima drew on his extensive experience in digital finance to walk students through real-life applications of CRM in the operations of UBA Bank, Vult Sierra Leone, and Access Bank. He emphasized how technology-backed customer engagement is redefining success in the financial services industry, particularly in emerging economies like Sierra Leone.
Speaking after the lecture, several students expressed appreciation for the knowledge gained, describing the session as “eye-opening” and “a bridge between textbook learning and practical reality.”
In a statement, the university highlighted the event as a milestone in its goal of enhancing professional exposure for students. “We invited institutions that are demonstrating real growth and innovation. Vult’s journey in Sierra Leone has been impressive, and this was a chance for students to learn directly from a key industry player,” said a faculty member from the Banking and Finance Department.
Since its official launch in March 2025, Vult Sierra Leone has quickly grown into a prominent fintech company, boasting over 10,000 customers. Known for its seamless mobile app supporting both Visa and Mastercard and online transactions at just a 1% fee, Vult has positioned itself as a driver of affordable digital financial services.
The company’s strategic partnership with SKY Bank Sierra Leone in late 2024 has also been credited with accelerating access to digital finance across the country.
By sharing Vult’s practical journey with the students, Mr. Kpakima not only inspired future bankers but also reinforced the importance of CRM in building trust, loyalty, and efficiency in the financial services sector.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, during which students actively engaged the Vult CEO on CRM systems, customer data management, and the future of digital banking in Sierra Leone.
