Wanjama Checkpoint Cracks Down Drugs

At the Wanjama Checkpoint on the 10th July 2025, approximately 23:30 hours, a Joint security forces deployed at Wanjama Checkpoint successfully apprehended a quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa concealed in a commercial vehicle bearing registration number AYE 808.
The driver of the vehicle, Sara Bah of No. 5 Wilkinson Road, Freetown, was intercepted following a thorough search by officers. During the operation, one Yankuba Kanneh from Nyanyawama Section, Daru Town, was also arrested in connection with the seized substance.
In a brief interview, Sergeant Massaquoi, Commanding Officer of Wanjama Checkpoint, highlighted several recent successes in apprehending drug offenders and confiscating illicit substances. He emphasized that the checkpoint has recorded numerous arrests of lawbreakers within the review period and assured that the team remains committed to maintaining excellence in service delivery.
Both suspects and the confiscated substances have been transferred to the Regional Criminal Investigation Department, Kenema Police Station for further investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and the public will be kept informed of any developments according to media department of Sierra Leone Police East.
