The Member of Parliament representing Constituency 050, Honourable Aruna Pappy Larkoh, has reaffirmed the central role of human capital development in national progress, describing education as the most sustainable investment any society can make.

Hon. Larkoh made these remarks while delivering the keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the Tonkolili District College of Health Sciences (TDCHS), Masanga, held on Friday, January 10, 2026.

The ceremony brought together graduates, parents, academic staff, policymakers, members of the fourth estate, and community stakeholders to celebrate another milestone in health education and professional training in Sierra Leone.

Speaking on the broader impact of the institution, the parliamentarian emphasized that TDCHS has empowered thousands of individuals across the country, many of whom are now serving in critical areas of the health sector.

He noted that the college’s contribution extends beyond Tonkolili District, as its graduates continue to strengthen the nation’s human resource base and support long-term socio-economic development.

Reaffirming his personal and political commitment, Hon. Larkoh assured the gathering of his continued support for the institution and the people of Tonkolili District.

He stated that as a representative of Constituency 050, he remains determined to support initiatives that promote education, skills development, and improved healthcare delivery.

In acknowledging institutional leadership, the MP paid special tribute to the administration of TDCHS and its Founder, Dr. Peter Bo, commending their vision, resilience, and sacrifices.

He described their work as a meaningful contribution to national development, noting that the growth and sustainability of the college reflect years of dedication and service to the country.

Addressing the graduating students directly, Hon. Larkoh underscored the responsibility attached to the nursing profession.

He cautioned that nursing should never be approached casually, describing it as a calling built on courage, professional ethics, compassion, dedication, and humanity.
He urged the graduates to allow these values to guide their practice as they enter the health workforce.

Turning attention to regional development, the parliamentarian challenged lingering misconceptions about Tonkolili District, stating that the district is witnessing steady growth in education and human development. According to him, institutions such as TDCHS serve as clear evidence of Tonkolili’s emerging role in shaping skilled professionals for national service.

In a moment marked by gratitude and reflection, Hon. Larkoh also acknowledged the role of parents, guardians, and families, praising their unwavering support and sacrifices.

He noted that the success of the graduates was not achieved in isolation, but through collective commitment and encouragement from their families and communities.

Concluding his address, Hon. Larkoh clarified that his remarks were delivered on behalf of all Members of Parliament representing Tonkolili District, reaffirming their collective commitment to education, healthcare training, and human empowerment as key pillars of sustainable national development.
