Dr Julius Maada Bio on Thursday the 15th day of January 2026 met with representatives of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) at State House as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the private sector and promote sustainable economic growth.
The meeting focused on dialogue and partnership between government and oil marketing companies in Sierra Leone, the President described as critical to the national economy due to its direct impact on transportation, commerce and the daily lives of Sierra Leoneans.
Speaking during the engagement, President Bio said his administration remains committed to working closely with private sector actors through regular consultation and cooperation.
“This year, I am not only acting; I want to act with haste. If we are to work together, we must continue to engage in dialogue,” the President stated.
He noted that the engagement was intended to provide an opportunity for government to listen to the concerns of oil marketing companies, review existing collaboration and identify practical ways to strengthen the partnership.
“We are here to listen to you, to understand your concerns, assess our partnership, and explore how we can further strengthen it,” he added.
President Bio emphasized that sustained engagement between government and the private sector is essential for economic stability and long-term development, adding that the meeting would serve as a basis for continued dialogue.
Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh said the meeting was held at the President’s initiative, highlighting the importance of oil marketing companies as significant contributors to national revenue, employment and overall economic activity.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment and strengthening collaboration with private sector stakeholders in support of national development priorities.
