Sierra Leone has secured a prominent place in international Fulah leadership following the election of Sierra Leonean businessman and community leader Alhaji Amadu Juldeh Sowe as President of Tabital Pulaaku International, the global organisation representing Fulah communities.

President Julius Maada Bio received Alhaji Juldeh Sowe and a high-level delegation of Tabital Pulaaku International at State House in Freetown on Monday, October 5, 2026, where he congratulated the newly elected leader and described his elevation as a source of pride for Sierra Leone.

Alhaji Juldeh Sowe was accompanied by senior representatives of the organisation from different countries, including Alhaji Sidie Dem and Dr Abubakar Gerei, who formally introduced him to President Bio following his election to the international leadership position.

The delegation also included Dr Helena Sahid of Guinea-Bissau, who explained that their visit was intended to formally present the newly crowned Horeejo to President Bio, the Fulah community and the people of Sierra Leone.

According to Dr Sahid, Alhaji Juldeh Sowe’s election reflected the confidence, unity, respect and peaceful reputation he has built among Fulahs across 34 countries.

She also expressed appreciation to President Bio and his Government for what she described as their continued support for the Fulah community in Sierra Leone.

Dr Sahid said the election of a Sierra Leonean to lead Tabital Pulaaku International was a significant achievement for the country, particularly as it occurred during President Bio’s tenure.

The international representatives further thanked President Bio, First Lady Fatima Bio, the Government and people of Sierra Leone for their support and for welcoming the new global Fulah leader.

For his part, Alhaji Juldeh Sowe expressed appreciation to President Bio, First Lady Fatima Bio, the Government and people of Sierra Leone, as well as Fulahs around the world, for the confidence and trust placed in him.

He noted that representatives from 34 countries had accompanied him to Sierra Leone as part of the formal presentation of his leadership to the community and to express their gratitude to the President.

The newly crowned Horeejo pledged to use his new position to promote peace, unity and cooperation among Fulahs in Sierra Leone and across the wider international community.

He described his election as not merely a personal accomplishment but a national achievement, stressing that the position presented an opportunity to strengthen unity and peaceful coexistence.

Responding to the delegation, President Bio congratulated Alhaji Juldeh Sowe and welcomed the international leadership of Tabital Pulaaku International to State House.

The President described the newly elected leader as a peaceful, respectful and consultative individual who has contributed meaningfully to Sierra Leone over the years.

“You have demonstrated for far too long that you are peaceful and that you have been contributing meaningfully to our country,” President Bio said.

President Bio highlighted the longstanding relationships among Sierra Leone’s various communities, noting that citizens have historically lived together, attended schools together and shared common experiences irrespective of their backgrounds.

He urged Alhaji Juldeh Sowe to use his international position to promote greater unity within the Fulah community and to ensure that his tenure is characterised by peace, cooperation and effective leadership.

The President also pointed to the Fulah community’s contribution to national development, saying his engagements with the community had consistently demonstrated its commitment to peace and progress.

He expressed confidence that Alhaji Juldeh Sowe’s leadership would strengthen Tabital Pulaaku International and elevate its contribution to the welfare and development of Fulah communities globally.

President Bio further thanked Fulahs across the world for entrusting the leadership of the international organisation to a Sierra Leonean and called on the Fulah community in Sierra Leone to support Alhaji Juldeh Sowe as he takes on his new responsibilities.
